Read Mail

  1. There may be an issue with the email's encoding setting if you are unable to read your Kakao Mail.

    Try the following if you are unable to read an email in a foreign language.
    1. Go to the Read Mail screen and select [More] at the upper right side.
    2. Select [Language Settings].
    3. Go to the browser's "View" menu > "Encoding" and change the encoding setting to the language the email was written in.

    The encoding setting can also be changed in the browser.

    1. Go to "View" and select "Encoding".
    2. Select the appropriate encoding from the provided options.

    #. Follow the steps below to change the encoding setting in Chrome.
    1. Go to "View" and select "Encoding".
    2. Select the appropriate encoding from the provided options.

    #. Follow the steps below to change the encoding setting in Firefox.
    1. Go to "View" and select "Encoding".
    2. Select the appropriate encoding from the provided options.

    #. Follow the steps below to change the encoding setting in Safari.
    1. Go to "View" at the top of the browser and select "Text Encoding".
    2. Select the appropriate encoding from the provided options.
  2. You can use the search feature to find emails if you have too many emails saved in your mailboxes.

    1. PC Kakao Mail:Use the search bar on the upper right to search your emails.
    Search by "Sender + Subject", "All", "Sender", "Subject" and "Content".
    Use the Advanced Search feature for more accurate search results.

    2. Mobile Kakao Mail: Press the magnifying glass icon on the upper right of the main home screen to search your emails.
  3. "Unknown Sender" is shown only next to emails that have not been verified.
    Unverified emails are defined as emails that are supposedly sent by the shown sender account, but in actuality was not sent through the sender's server. In other words, the email has been send with a different sender account.

    Sender accounts can be changed for many reasons.
    However, spammers change sender accounts to send fraudulent emails, so the "Unknown Sender" message is displayed to caution email recipients.

    The message may also be displayed on non-spam mails, so please be cautious when opening emails and do not press the link or open attachments if the mail looks suspicious.
