  1. Kakao takes protective measures, for the time being, that temporarily restricts some functions of the Open Chat service with the consent of the relevant user or upon the request of the user under 19 or his/her legal representative to protect children and juveniles in the KakaoTalk Open Chat.

    If it is necessary to apply juvenile protective measures in Open Chat, please read the following content and submit an application form and document required to Customer Service.

    To prevent sexually exploitative conversations (grooming) and sexual offenses against children and juveniles


    [Subject]

    Users aged under 19
    (Except for those who have passed January 1 of the year they turn 19)


    [Scope]
    Unable to create an open chat room and join a new one


    [Period]
    180days


    [Request Procedures and Required Documents]

    1. Open Chat Juvenile Protective Measures Request Form (Download)
    2. Proof of subscription to telecommunication service (for user identification purposes)
    ◼︎ When a legal representative requests

    3. Documents related to counseling on behalf of minors

    Family relationship certificate (or guardianship registration)

    Documents necessary for confirming the guardian's (legal representative's) identity
    (ex. identification card or subscription document for the relevant telecommunication service)
    - KakaoTalk Proxy Statement for Counselling (Download)
    - KakaoTalk user's seal certificate or personal signature proof


    [Release of Protective Measures]
    • At the end of the protection period: To be released automatically
    • Before the end of the protection period: Possible to be released upon the request of the applicant


    The start date and the end date of protective measures will be notified to the person who submitted the request to Customer Service. We sincerely ask for your understanding that we do not provide additional notice before the end of the protective measures.


    Even with protective measures being applied, you can still make conversations as usual in the open chat rooms you are currently joining. Therefore, you must leave a chat room where you need to block conversations. Once you leave the KakaoTalk, you must request protective measures again when you rejoin KakaoTalk.
