I'm trying to use IMAP/POP3, but I'm not able to log in even with my correct Kakao account and password.
Kakao's IMAP/POP3 login security is enhanced as of Mon, Oct. 7, 2024. Users are required to enable 2-step verification for their Kakao account.

Please check to see if you've enabled 2-step verification and enter the app password that you created when logging in to other email programs using your Kakao account!
For those who are already using IMAP/POP3, we recommend that you enable 2-step verification and log in using the app password.

1) Enable 2-step verification
2-step verification (also known as 2FA) is a dual authentication security method that requires a second form of authentication that has been created in advance to safely log in after entering your Kakao account information.
If you haven't enabled 2-step verification, please follow the instructions below to set it up.

[Enable 2-step verification]
- KakaoTalk > More (⋯) > Settings (⚙️) > Kakao Account > 2-Step Verification
- Kakao website (https://accounts.kakao.com) > Account Security > 2-Step Verification

2) Create an app password (IMPORTANT!)
After you've enabled 2-step verification, you must create a new app password different from your account password to log in.
You must create an app password since some IMAP/POP3 applications do not support pre-configured 2-step verification.

Copy and paste your newly created app password to other email programs when logging in using your Kakao account.

[Create app password]
- KakaoTalk > More (⋯) > Settings (⚙️) > Kakao Account > 2-Step Verification > Confirm Password
- Kakao website (https://accounts.kakao.com) > Account Security > 2-Step Verification > Confirm Password

3) Check IMAP/POP3 status
You may not be able to log in if your IMAP/POP3 settings are configured to "Disabled."
Double check your IMAP/POP3 settings on Daum/Kakao Mail to make sure of proper configuration.
